Kim Archer comes to Platte City from the Park Hill School District. During her twelve years at Park Hill, Kim served as a second grade teacher for two years and fourth grade teacher for nine years at Prairie Point Elementary. Most recently she served as fourth grade teacher and Summer Expeditions Principal at Tiffany Ridge Elementary.

Kim graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education (1998) and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership (2000). Kim also earned a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies through the University of Kansas. Kim is originally from Maryville, Missouri and moved to the Kansas City area after completing her Master's degree. She married her husband, Jeff, in 2006, and has two boys, Cole and Tate.

Derek Colburn joined the Platte County R-3 family for the 2019-20 school year as assistant principal for Compass Elementary.  Mr. Colburn came to Platte County after serving two years in the Saint Joseph School District as an assistant principal and athletic director for Truman Middle School. 
Mr. Colburn received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Missouri Western State University in 2005 and Master of Education Degree in Administration from William Woods University in 2008.   Derek began his career in education in 2005 as a physical education teacher.  He spent ten years teaching physical education and coaching for the North Platte R-1 School District before beginning his role in administration for the Saint Joseph School District. 

Outside of school, Derek enjoys spending time with his family. He married his wife Lyndsey in 2005, and they have two sons, Camden and Carter.  Derek's wife is also in education as an ELA teacher for the North Platte School District.  The Colburns enjoy traveling, being active together, and cheering on the Jayhawks, Chiefs, Boston Celtics, and the Royals!
